Awareness Group – Here for You
The Awareness Group is here to make sure that everyone at the Summer School feels safe, supported, and included. If at any point you:
experience or witness behavior that makes you uncomfortable
feel excluded, discriminated against, or unsafe
or simply need someone to talk to about a concern
You can reach out to us.
The awareness team consists of Ilektra Karasante and Georgios Blougouras. Please don’t hesitate to reach out — whether it’s about a serious issue, a smaller concern, or simply to check in. We aim to promote a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. We provide the below means of communication:
Onsite: You can always approach an Awareness Group member in person throughout the entirety of the event. We will be available at the event locations at all times, as well as during the after-hours social events. You can also reach out to us personally via e-mail (Ilektra Karasante <ile.karasante@noa.gr> and Georgios Blougouras <gblougouras@bgc-jena.mpg.de>) or Slack.

External support: We actively collaborate with the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Office (https://www.bgc-jena.mpg.de/en/career/dei) as well as the Gender Equality Office (https://www.bgc-jena.mpg.de/career/gender-equality) of the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry. On an organizational level, they provide support and expertise in organizing the Awareness Group.
