George Blougouras
ELLIS PhD candidate* at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry Jena
George Blougouras has a background in (applied) physics and atmospheric sciences. He is a PhD candidate (commencing August, 2023) at the Department of Biogeochemical Integration of the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, within the context of the ELLIS PhD program (ELLIS Unit Jena). His main research interests are climate physics, eco-hydrology and machine learning applications to earth system sciences. Specifically, his PhD focuses on the development and employment of deep hybrid learning algorithms in order to explore and better understand the processes that govern water-vegetation interactions across different spatiotemporal scales.
