PhD candidate in the Computer Vision Group, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Friedrich Schiller University Jena
Niklas is a research associate and Ph.D. candidate in the computer vision group Jena, supervised by Prof. Dr. Joachim Denzler. His work focuses on understanding and interpreting deep models. In addition, he uses methods grounded in causality to investigate the training process specifically.
Niklas is especially interested in medical applications to increase the robustness of models performing tasks with critical consequences. In the collaborative project LearningProducts, together with members of the TU Ilmenau, he analyzes and improves (keyword: active learning) privacy-secure federated systems intending to develop intelligent medical devices.
Niklas shares his knowledge by supervising and tutoring students of various disciplines from the Friedrich-Schiller University Jena.
