Lijun is deeply interested in the intersection of geoscience and artificial intelligence. Her research aims to enhance the interpretability and generalizability of machine learning models by integrating existing geoscientific knowledge. She also pursues to gain new physical insights from rapidly accumulating Earth system big data using AI methods. Her work primarily focuses on processes in agriculture, hydrology, and ecology.
From May 2024, she is a visiting Ph.D. candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena. Prior to that, she has been pursuing a Mphil-Ph.D. program since September 2018 at Wuhan University in China.
