Conrad studied Geography and Political Science (major international conflict politics) at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, received his PhD from the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2013, and coordinated two urban climate research projects in Australia (2014-2016, lead by the University of South Australia) and Singapore (2017-2020, lead by the Singapore-ETH-Zurich-Centre).
