Prof. Dr. Sebstian Sippel
ELLIS Member
Junior Professor at Leipzig University
Sebastian is a Junior Professor for Climate Attribution at the Leipzig Institute for Meteorology, University of Leipzig. His research focuses on understanding climate variability and extremes, as well as their changes across global and regional scales. He is particularly interested in how global climate change affects impact-relevant variables, including the regional hydrological cycle, ecosystem water-carbon interactions, and broader societal implications. His work is rooted in climate change detection and attribution, employing modern empirical-statistical and machine learning methods. By integrating diverse data sources—such as gridded climate observations and climate model simulations—Sebastian aims to improve scientific insights into the dynamics and consequences of a changing climate.
