Prof. Dr. Michael Habeck
Professor for Microscopic Image Analysis in the Medical Faculty at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena
Jena University Hospital
Michael Habeck is leading the Microscopic Image Analysis group which is located at Jena University Hospital. His team is broadly interested in Bayesian inference and its application to scientific data, in particular imaging and biophysical data. They view probability theory as the mathematical framework for making consistent inferences and predictions from incomplete and uncertain information. Therefore, Bayesian methods offer powerful tools to support scientific inference and to solve engineering problems. The group past and current research focuses on Bayesian computation (in particular Markov chain Monte Carlo and probabilistic programming) and applications in structural biology (protein structure determination, cryo-electron microscopy).
