Wasim Ahmad
PhD candidate in the Computer Vision Group, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Friedrich Schiller University Jena

Wasim is a PhD candidate working with Computer Vision Group (CVG) at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. His current research focuses on modelling non-linear interaction and extracting causal information from multivariate time series using deep networks. The aim is to estimate causality in real world data i.e. understanding the causal interaction between climatic variables and ecosystem. Wasim developed a causal discovery method to retrieve causal graph from system of multivariate non-linear time series. He is currently working to extend his method to non-stationary time series where system dynamics vary over time. Besides, he is also interested to handle hidden confounding issue in causality in order to differentiate between true and spurious causal relationship.
