Reda ElGhawi
PhD candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry Jena

Reda ElGhawi is a PhD candidate at the department of Biogeochemical Integration of the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena. She is conducting her research under the European Research Council (ERC) Synergy Grant on Understanding and Modelling the Earth System with Machine Learning (USMILE). Her research focuses on the development of hybrid modeling approaches (i.e. combination of theory-driven and data-driven approaches) to better understand and characterize Land-Atmosphere interactions. She is interested in exploring the applications of deep learning methods in earth system research with an emphasis on improving understanding of processes through interpretability and explainability.
