Prof. Dr. Marco Körner
Head of the Chair of Remote Sensing Technology and Adjunct Teaching Professor for Computer Vision and Machine Learning at Technical University of Munich (TUM)
Marco is a professor at Technical University of Munich (TUM) where he currently leads the Chair of Remote Sensing Technology on an interim, a joint appointment with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Remote Sensing Technology Institute in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich. He also holds a Adjunct Teaching Professorship for Computer Vision and Machine Learning at TUM.
His research interests are in the exploitation and interpretation of high-dimensional remote sensing and Earth observation data stocks, in particular through data-driven and hybrid modeling of dynamic processes within the Earth system.
Marco studied Computer Sciences at Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, from where he later also received his PhD in the field of Computer Vision. He thereafter became the deputy head and managing director of the TUM Chair of Remote Sensing Technology. He is the PI of several research projects, funded by EU H2020, BMBF, and BMWK, among others.
