Dr. Jonas Wahl
Former Postdoctoral Researcher, Research Group Climate Informatics at TU Berlin and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Data Science Jena
Jonas was a postdoctoral researcher in the research group Climate Informatics at the Technical University of Berlin as well as a permanent guest researcher at the DLR Institute for Data Science Jena. He obtained his PhD in mathematics at KU Leuven (Belgium) in 2018 under the supervision of Prof. Stefaan Vaes. In 2019, he joined the Hausdorff Centre for Mathematics at the University of Bonn as a postdoctoral researcher before moving on to TU Berlin in January 2022. He is affiliated with the European Research Council (ERC) Synergy Grant “Understanding and Modeling the Earth System with Machine Learning” (USMILE) as a collaborator, and an active member of the interdisciplinary science think tank Algoright e.V.
Jonas has published peer-reviewed research articles on causal inference, statistics, mathematics, and explainable Artificial Intelligence. His main research interests are the development of causal inference methods for high-dimensional spatiotemporal data, the integration of constraint-based causal inference and dynamical systems, causal modelling with feedback cycles and applications of causal inference to climate research.
