Jakob Gawlikowski
PhD candidate Researcher at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Data Science Jena

Jakob conducts research in the field of robust deep learning. With a background in Mathematics holding a BSc and MSc from TU Munich, his research focuses on the robustness and uncertainty quantification in neural networks, specifically in the context of multi-modal approaches.
Jakob’s primary research objective is to tackle the challenges associated with data uncertainties and shifts in the data distribution within individual data sources of a multi-modal setup. He aims to develop methodologies and techniques that enhance the adaptability of neural networks to real-world scenarios. This research holds implications for various applications, including satellite imagery analysis.
Jakob enriched his understanding of robust deep learning methodologies and gained expertise by collaborating with leading experts in the field and during a four-month research stay at Cambridge University.
