Claire Robin
ELLIS PhD candidate* at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry Jena

Claire is an ELLIS PhD candidate in the Department of Biogeochemical Integration at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, supervised by Prof. Dr. Markus Reichstein. She holds a master’s degree in machine learning and began her PhD in June 2023. Her research focuses on data-driven ecological modeling, with a keen interest in enhancing the understanding of ecological processes through interpretability and explicability methods. She mainly works on the EarthNet project (https://www.earthnet.tech/), which utilizes satellite data and machine learning methods to predict local vegetation evolution during extreme events such as heat waves and drought. This project contributes to understanding ecosystem responses to environmental changes and offers potential applications in anticipatory actions.
